Selling an excellently preserved H.L. Judd Company bookend and letter holder. These particular ends were designed to be used either solo, or in combination with a second, identical bookend, connected via a brass 22" expandable crossbar. The original connection points, seen on the backend of the bookend (say that 5 times fast!), are entirely intact and ready to be used should you be lucky enough to possess the original Judd expansion bars.The figure depicted in this piece is Judd's famous "driver" character. You'll see this character used in a good number of antique Judd products. The H.L. Judd Company operated from 1875 to 1954 before its later conversion to the "Stanley Works- Judd Division". This bookend is an example of the company's early work, and is in absolutely excellent condition when compared to other surviving Judds'. You'll see few if any examples of runaway oxidation - this piece has been kept in a private climate controlled collection for many decades. We pride ourselves in limiting physical contact with this piece to museum grade cotton conservation gloves.This Judd measures in at 7.25" in length, 3" in width, and4.8" in height. Its weight is 1 lb. 6.2 oz.
Due to the age and rarity of this piece, exceptional care will be taken during the packaging and shipping process. This Judd will ship in a custom cut, reinforced box.
