Authentic, exceptionally large Turn-of-the-Century (circa 1890–1910) hand-forged iron cow bell, measuring a substantial 8.5 inches long from the top loop to the bottom metal rim.
This is a true primitive farm implement, not a modern reproduction. It features a textbook vertical blacksmith seam down the side where the heavy sheet iron was folded and hammered into shape over a forge. The surface boasts an incredible, untouched "crusty" patina with deep iron oxidation beautifully contrasted by green verdigris and brass/copper braze tones from its original fire-baking process.
Most importantly, this large range bell retains its original hand-carved wooden clapper/striker inside, giving it a deep, resonant, historical "clunking" tone when shaken. Heavy, solid, and full of character. Perfect for serious collectors of early Americana, rustic barn decor, or primitive farmhouse styling.
