Antique Handmade Linen Needle Lace & Buratto Placemats and Runner for 12 NWOT B279

An exquisite and rare set of antique (1920s) linens which includes 12 placemats and 1 generously sized runner. The linen is very lightweight and the handwork is quite rare and extremely fine. They have a beautiful lightweight natural linen-colored linen center. The entire piece is stitched by hand into the linen. They have a Buratto lace foundation (the mesh), with darned lace swirls across the woven square openings. The top section is Hardanger embroidery (Norwegian) with drawn threadwork. They have beautifully formed shaped edges. We think they are probably Italian, but we’re not 100% sure. We are separately listing a matching second runner.

The condition is excellent, unused.
