JAPAN FOUND Antique Japanese Indigo Boro Work Pants Monpe Hand Patched Folk Textile
Old Japanese indigo work pants with beautiful boro patching and repairs.
The garment is made from blue and indigo cotton fabrics and has been repaired many times during its long working life. Large and small patches cover much of the garment, especially around the seat and legs.
Some of the older patches have worn through, revealing other layers of fabric underneath. The different shades of indigo, faded blue, and darker patch fabrics give the garment a very rich and unique appearance.
The pants have traditional waist ties, with long narrow ties at the front and shorter, wider ties at the back. The overall form is similar to traditional Japanese monpe work pants.
