This Japanese Kinkozan Awata Satsuma style tea set was made during the Meiji period, circa 1880-1900.
The Kinkozan workshop in Kyoto began producing this type of Satsuma-style export ware in the early Meiji era, around 1870. Production of this style reached its peak in the late 19th century to cater specifically to growing Western markets.
The pattern reassures rustic hand-painted wildflowers including chrysanthemums and butterflies. The handles are modeled in the style of bamboo.
Please inspect the photos for flaws. The teapot has a Kintsugi repair to the tip and the plate has a small chip on the top edge. The teapot has some chips to the inner lid, but they not prohibit the lid from sitting securely on top.
