Beautiful antique Japanese Kutani ginger jar, Meiji period (circa 1880s–1890s). Complete three-piece set — jar, lid, and inner tray — hand-painted with butterflies and flowers in a warm burnt-orange (not red — it photographs redder than it is). I think the design is so unique and pretty. The inner tray is painted with a small ginger motif, a nice detail tying it back to the jar's original use.
Measures 4.5" H x 3.5" W. Weighs 8 oz.
Condition: The lid has a break through at the midpoint, currently held with tape on the interior (see photos — please review all angles closely before purchasing). Stable and displays normally when closed and undisturbed. Sold as-is. Otherwise the hand-painted decoration is vibrant and intact, and finding a genuine three-piece antique set complete is uncommon.
