Antique Large Porcelain Serving Beer Stein with Figural Bronze Mounts c.1900
Description: Presented is a beautiful, large porcelain beer stein/pitcher decorated with dark blue glaze and gilt floral ornaments. It is mounted on a heavy cast bronze foot with a cast bronze lid, topped by a figure of Cupid or a putto.
There are no marks I could find, but the quality of the bronze suggests it was made in 1900 or earlier. The dark blue glaze with gilt decorations reminds one of Germany or Bohemia (now the Czech Republic).
The stein's body is in perfect, flawless condition. The lid shows some minor old repairs to the hinge.
It is large and impressive, standing 15" tall to the top of the thumblift, 3L capacity.
Very nice historical beer vessel.
