Antique Letter to Mom Dreaming of a Flying Machine Fred J Smith Lockport NY 1905
On a rainy Sunday afternoon Fred left the family behind, eased to the office, and penned a letter to his Mother. After some mundane details about his day he talks about concerns he has for his business, and about getting out of debt. Then near the bottom of the second page: \'I wish someone would invent a flying machine so I could leave here Saturday afternoon and get there the same day.\" I find it interesting that a full two years after the Wright Brothers first flight, air travel was still a dream to most folks.
NOTE ABOUT THE CORRECTIONS: There was no easy way to correct a type-written letter in 1905. There was no correction tape, no White-Out, and erasing typewriter ink could damage or noticeably abrade the paper. So people would often proofread personal correspondence and send it out with corrections- \"this is how it shoud look.\" Noone came along later and corrced Fred\'s letter.
In very good condition. Has creases from where it was folded to mail, and lighter surface creases as well. Scuffs and small tears along the top edge of the first two pages.
