General Description:
A striking antique French Limoges celery dish, richly hand painted with a dramatic golden-brown autumn leaf and branch motif, signed by artist R. F. Chapman of Asheville. The painterly quality of the leaves—layered in warm russet, olive, and amber tones—gives this piece remarkable depth and movement, evocative of late autumn foliage.
The softly scalloped rim is accented with hand-applied gold, framing the composition without overpowering it. This form was traditionally used as a celery or relish dish during formal Victorian and Edwardian table service, when celery was considered a luxury item worthy of special presentation.
