This is a stunning, authentic piece of 19th-century French decorative art: an Old Paris Porcelain Wedding Vase (Vase de Mariée). Dating to the mid-to-late 1800s during the Napoleon III era, these flamboyant vessels were traditionally given as wedding presents to a new bride and later displayed on church altars or family mantels. This exquisite piece features a dramatic flared silhouette in the Rococo Revival style, complete with sculpted leaf accents and dimensional floral motifs at the base. The body is clad in a luxurious, deep cobalt blue ground, accented with hand-painted gold gilt scrollwork framing a central botanical reserve. The center features an incredibly detailed, hand-painted polychrome bouquet highlighted by a vibrant rose and garden flowers.
Factory Markings: Consistent with historic Parisian workshops (Vieux Paris), the vase does not have a retail stamp but features authentic period production markings on the unglazed foot: Incised Number: "584" is carved into the porcelain paste, representing the historical shape or mold family tracking number. Painter's Mark: A delicate hand-painted gilder/decorator mark is present just below the mold numbers, alongside an original cobalt pigment smudge from the workshop artist.
