Antique Rich Pantentee English Honor Box, Tobacco Vending Coin Box, Circa 1800\'s For Sale

Antique (Circa 1800\'s) Englis brass Honor Box used in tavern\'s for dispensing tobacco. A coin was inserted, the box would unlock, and you were to take enough tobacco out for your pipe. It was done on the \"Honor\" system of taking just what you you needed, hence the name Honor Box. It has 4 ball feet, weighs 5 1/2 pounds, is 9 1/4\" long, 4 5/8\" across, and is 7\" to the top of the handle. One the end, by the push button release button it is stamped 13900. Under the handle is stamped Rich Pantentee Bridgewater, and in the center on top is Rich\'s Patent. The door opens easily and snaps shut, but there is no key to lock it. Rare vending box from the 1800\'s.
