Antique Spelter Horse Statue Prancing Stallion 8\" Bronze Finish French Style For Sale

Antique cast spelter (white metal) horse statue with a bronze-tone finish. It shows a prancing stallion with one foreleg raised, a flowing mane and tail, and an open mouth, standing on a naturalistic base with flowers in relief and a stepped molded edge. The design follows the 19th-century French animalier style.

Size: 8 inches tall at the ears. Weighs 2 lb 4 oz.

Please note: this is spelter, not solid bronze. You can see the casting seam across the middle of the body, and silver-gray metal shows where the patina has worn on the legs and base edge. The base is hollow underneath. I found no signature or foundry mark.

Condition: Used, with wear consistent with age. The patina is worn and rubbed in places, especially on the lower legs and high points, with some scratches and small marks on the body. There is some white residue and spotting on the hollow underside of the base. No breaks or repairs seen, and the ears, legs and tail are intact.
