Presenting an exceptional and highly sought-after example of late Victorian art glass: an originalThomas Webb & Sons "Moroccan" pattern oil lamp, dating to circa 1885. This beautiful two-part set features both the bulbous font base and the matching dome-shaped glass shade. The lamp is crafted from premium satin cased glass. It is decorated in Webb’s iconic Moroccan design, showcasing a vibrant chevron field of citron yellow and pastel blue panels. The entire surface is intricately hand-painted with fine black scrollwork and heavily encrusted with raised, multi-colored vitreous enamel "jeweled" beading. This exotic design perfectly captures the late 19th-century Aesthetic Movement’s obsession with Moorish and North African design elements. The lamp retains its original brass oil burner collar mechanism and rests on its ornate, cast-metal decorative pedestal base.Condition Report:
- Glass Body & Shade:In excellent antique condition with no cracks, large chips, or repairs to the primary glass.
- Enamel Decoration:The hand-painted enameling and raised beading remain remarkably crisp and colorful, showing only minor, expected age wear upon very close inspection.
- Hardware:The brass burner parts and metal footed base show an authentic, uncleaned dark antique patina. Please note: The lamp is presented in its historic structural form; it has not been drilled or modern-electrified, leaving its antique integrity completely intact.
