The obverse features the classic early Marine Corps design with a Marine standing beside a naval gun, surrounded by UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS and the motto SEMPER FIDELIS. The medal is suspended from the distinctive rifle-shaped brooch.
This is an especially appealing example for a collector because it is not simply an unnamed USMC medal—it retains its original recipient attribution, medal number and enlistment dates, providing an excellent starting point for additional military/genealogical research.
The medal shows genuine age and use, including patina, surface wear, scratches and toning consistent with an approximately 110-year-old piece. It has not been polished, preserving the existing finish and patina.
