Antique WILHELM SCHILLER & SONS Ram\'s Head URN VASE

Vase has absolutely astonishing coloration and molded details over every inch typical of the mid-late 1800s. Swirls, beading, pattern-within-pattern. The incredible \'over the top\' nature of this vase is something to behold- it is a very LUXE style and certainly not a run of the mill vase. A VERY special piece.
This is a MUSEUM QUALITY piece
Magnificent hand painted cobalt and teal blue Majolica colors with a center band of stippled tan.
Center band contains a scene in relief depicting a Greek or Roman battle, which wraps around entire vase without repeating.
Wonderful pair of very large ram\'s head handles with incredible detailing
Stamped on bottom WS&S with the number 8846 and that Artist\'s hand signed initials of A/I/
Genuine circa 1865 by mark
Size 13.25\" tall, diameter across top is 4.5\", handles side to side measurement is 7.75\" wide. Square pedestal base is 4 1/8\" with a .5\" diameter hole in the center for potential lamp wiring. Also has a small round .25\" drilled hole along one bottom edge of pedestal base for potential cord.
This ceramic urn vase was hand created and hand painted in the Studio of Wilhelm Schiller & Sons of Austria. Their showroom featured some of the most high-end majolica ceramic pieces available to purchase at the time.
It is stunning from all sides.
The painting is lavish, lush, and with incredibly minute detailing. Colors are rich and jewel toned, enamel is smooth/raised
Very good condition other than a very small break on the rim edge that was securely repaired/rejoined long ago and one small chip on underside of rim which was color matched to be difficult to even notice. All 4 corners of the cobalt blue base have very minor areas of glaze loss, the ceramic is NOT chipped beneath. No damage to handles. Glaze is glossy and unfaded, no crazing, no cracks. Please see last photos for close ups of any issues. In beautiful condition for age.
A fabulous piece for a collector or someone that appreciates classic Majolica - this is a beautiful vase/lamp base.
These are getting harder and harder to find, especially in suchgreat shape.
