Original antique Waltham mechanical automobile dashboard clock, dating approximately to the 1910s–1920s.
These early Waltham clocks were designed for installation in automobile dashboards during the early motoring era. The clock features a cream-colored dial marked WALTHAM, bold black Arabic numerals, black hands, glass crystal, silver-tone metal case, and a large fluted winding/setting crown at the 6 o\'clock position.
This style of Waltham automobile clock was equipped with a mechanical 8-day movement, allowing approximately a week\'s operation between windings when functioning properly.
Clock is currently NOT RUNNING and is being sold AS-IS for repair, restoration, parts, or display. The winding crown turns easily and the mechanism appears to take a wind, but the clock does not begin running. No attempt has been made to service or repair the movement.
The case shows age-related oxidation, tarnish, scratches, small stains and general surface wear. Dial shows age toning, spotting and minor marks. Crystal shows normal age/use wear. Hands and numerals remain attractive and easily readable. Please examine photographs carefully for condition.
An appealing original piece of early American automobilia and a good restoration candidate for a collector of antique automobiles, dashboard instruments, Waltham timepieces or early automotive accessories.
Sold as-is, non-running.
