Vintage Arthur Wood child's nursery rhyme mug in the "Ding Dong Bell" pattern, made in England, circa 1940s.Tapered tankard form on a cream ground with soft blue and brown hand coloring. One side shows the village well scene with children; the reverse is printed with the full rhyme: "Ding Dong Bell, Pussy's in the well. Who put her in? Little Tommy Green. Who pulled her out? Little Tommy Stout..."The best part is the modelled figural handle - a little boy in a blue coat standing on the handle, fully in the round. Blue banding at the rim and foot.The base is marked with the Arthur Wood globe backstamp and MADE IN ENGLAND.Condition: good used/vintage condition - no cracks seen, handle figure intact, but with base-rim wear, small glaze nicks and light crazing.
