The Austrian Army is transitioning from its green-olive camouflage, introduced in the 1970s, to a new pattern called "Tarnanzug neu." In March 2019, Austrian soldiers received the first sets of the new camouflage combat uniform. This unique design combines six colors (gray, dark olive, medium olive, lichen, khaki, and sand) in a distinctive pattern designed to replicate the local vegetation commonly found in Austria. Developed by specialists from the Austrian Armed Forces, Tarnanzug neu offers a unique camouflage effect in natural environments and effective concealment against optical devices such as night vision.
