ITEM DESCRIPTION

This antique Austrian Majolica Girl Cat Flower Bud Vase is in Excellent Antique Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing. Produced in Austria circa 1900, this charming figural vase measures approximately 6" tall.

This wonderful antique majolica piece depicts an anthropomorphic female cat dressed in a flowing yellow gown. She wears a green bonnet and holds the long pink bonnet ties in her paws, as though keeping her bonnet from blowing away in the wind.

The cat has a wonderfully expressive face with large painted eyes, a pink nose, and finely detailed whiskers. Her long tail curls gracefully around the bottom of her dress and rests along the base.

The vase opening is cleverly incorporated into the back of the figure behind the cat's head, allowing the piece to function as a small flower or bud vase while maintaining the appearance of a decorative figural sculpture.

The underside bears a faint impressed mold number.

PATTERN & DESIGN

This delightful Girl Cat Flower Bud Vase is a wonderful example of the whimsical figural majolica produced in Austria around the turn of the 20th century.

The anthropomorphic design gives the cat an almost human personality. She is dressed as a fashionable young lady in a flowing yellow gown with a green bow and pink-trimmed bonnet. Holding the long bonnet ties in her paws adds movement and charm to the composition, while her tail curls naturally around the base of the figure.

The colorful majolica glazes, expressive face, dimensional modeling, and cleverly incorporated vase opening create a particularly charming and unusual decorative piece.

Dating to circa 1900, this Austrian majolica cat vase is approximately 125 years old and is a wonderful example of antique figural majolica pottery.

This measures 6" High x 1 5/8" Wide spout to rim. I have provided many pictures to best describe the condition of this Vase.
