C B Gattie Signed Studio Art Pottery Wood Fired Bonsai Planter Ikebana Pot ash g:
$42.75

OK so AI helped me with this description lol. I personally think the piece is lovely but I lack the knowledge to do it justice myself.
This is a beautiful, deeply organic studio art pottery bonsai planter / Ikebana flower container handcrafted by regional ceramic artist C B Gattie (I purchased this in Cincinnati on a second hand market so not positive it is from there but apparently it is typical of studio pottery art done in the area, also, the artist name is my best guess at the signature and I do believe it to be accurate but please see the pictures to make your own judgment). This highly tactile vessel features a central drainage hole that runs completely through the base, making it ideal for bonsai trees, orchids, or traditional Japanese floral displays. I did take a picture with backlight so you can see the light coming through the hole. I also put a small amount of water inside to make sure that it does in fact come through. Design & Firing Details:Atmospheric Effects: This container features a stunning unglazed surface completely transformed by a high-temperature atmospheric firing process (such as a multi-day wood or soda kiln). The exterior displays rich, dark iron-brown reduction tones contrasted by striking warm orange and reddish fire flashing (yohen).Natural Ash Path: A highly dramatic, melted ribbon of natural glassy cream and olive-tan wood ash (goma) tracks over the rim and sweeps down across both the inner and outer walls.Hand-Thrown Character: Wheel-thrown with distinct spiral ridges (uzumaki) and a protected clay "shadow" on the interior floor. The base showcases rhythmic chatter marks from the trimming process.
There is one tiny chip on the rim which I have a picture of and I show in the video and there are a few additional specks or spots of cay on the base from its original manufacturing.

I do my very best to detail the condition of everything I list including detailed pictures and I accept returns for up to 14 days so you can purchase with confidence.
