This envelope is signed and addressed by Lieutenant Thomas Charles Holland of the C.S Army of Northern Virginia, Company G, 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment . He was wounded in the ear at Seven Pines, wounded through both legs while leading a charge and carrying the Colors of a Georgia Regiment after the color bearer was killed at Gaines Mill. All of this before his serious wound through the head in Pickett\'s Charge at Gettysburg. There was a marker on the site of Pickett\'s Charge commemorating this event and Lt. Holland\'s story of meeting \'the man that killed him\' at a Gettysburg reunion.

Concerning the marker at Pickett\'s Charge.
the right side image on the marker is a photograph of Lt. Thomas C. Holland who commanded Company G. 28th Virginia Infantry. Shouting \"Come on, boys,\" Holland broke through the Union line on Cemetery Ridge. He fell moments later when a bullet pierced his cheek and exited the back of his head. He was carried to a Union field hospital, and later recovered.
Of the 88 men in his company who took part in Pickett\'s Charge, 81 were listed as killed, wounded, or missing that night. Fifty years after the battle, Holland returned to the spot where he fell and shook the hand of the Union soldier who had shot him.
The envelope is inbvery nice shape with no tears, a nice crease free surface, and still bold ink.
