Thibodaux Louisiana was an important military post during General Richard Taylor's Louisiana Red River and Teche campaigns, and the site fo the Battle of Lafourche Crossing. An Original Civil War Requisition issued at at Thibodaux, Louisiana, June 1, 1865. for uniforms, boots, knapsacks etc, received by Captain Thomas F McGowan, 78th US Colored Troops and signed by him, also signed by Lt Alfred M Jones as QM , and approved and signed by Colonel Samuel B Jones, 78th USCI as Post Commander at Thobodaux.
Comes w service info. The 78th USCT was raised from the Louisiana Corps De Afrique, mustered in at at Port Hudson, Louisiana, 1863 and served there and at various posts in the Bayou Country of Louisiana until 1866. Brevet Brigadier General Samuel Bradford Jones & for Lt McGowan. Colonel Jones commanded the 78rth USCT 1863-65 and was made a brevet Brigadier General. 1 page, 8 x 11" ptd/ink , with minor edge wear, age stains, Overall VG. Condition.
