Vivian Minor Fleming was a noted Confederate Historian. A veteran of the Confederate Army during the Civil War (served in the Second Company of the Richmond Howitzers and participated in all the principal engagements of the Army of Northern Virginia from Seven Pines to Fredericksburg. He wrote several books including "Campaigns of the Army of Northern Virginia," "The Wilderness Campaign," and "Battles of Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville, Virginia." He also founded the Eagle Shoe Company in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was one of the three war commissioners who mapped out the Fredericksburg battlefields for the National Park Service.
