This is a New in Box Colonel Coon CC32SAG large 4-blade congress. Smooth Autumn Gold bone, nickel-silver bolsters, round CC shield. Master blade etched Colonel Coon 1 of 200 with the standing raccoon. Tang stamps Col. Coon USA. Made in Titusville, Pennsylvania by Queen Cutlery for Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Original red box labeled COLONEL COON LG / CC32SAG. Factory paper wrap included.

Condition Notes
New in box. Factory wrap still with the knife. Opened only for photographs. No 2nds stamp on the blades. Box label is intact (COLONEL COON LG / CC32SAG / UPC 0 10610 63880 7); the orange box shows normal storage rub at the corners. Factory name for SAG is Smooth Autumn Gold; in hand the bone reads a strong orange. One scale runs a little deeper than the other — that is the bone, not wear. The 1 of 200 / raccoon etch is present and readable but light — that is how these Queen contract etches usually come, not later wear. Factory edge. No year stamp. Lengths above are factory / catalog figures for this pattern — confirm on a ruler photo if you need exact. No sheath. Judge from the pictures.
Description & History
Adrian Harris started Colonel Coon in Columbia, Tennessee in 1978 after years as a factory repairman for Schrade, Kissing Crane, and Henckels. He built commemorative and dealer-etched traditionals, then sold the manufacturing processes to Case in 1988 and retired. Smoky Mountain Knife Works bought the name in 2005–2006 and had Queen Cutlery in Titusville run the later Colonel Coon line — limited etches, CC shields, and the red raccoon boxes.
Queen made these from about 2006/2007 into the mid-2010s. A lot of the 1 of 200 etched pieces moved on SMKW’s TV / special-order shows around 2007–2010. SMKW still had leftover Large Congress Autumn Gold warehouse stock in September 2017. Queen closed the Pennsylvania plant in January 2018. These are late Queen contract knives, not Harris’s original Tennessee bench work and not the later Bear & Son Coons.
CC32 is Queen’s large congress: four blades on a straight 4\" frame — two sheepsfoot and two secondary blades. SMKW published this Autumn Gold congress as two 2-3/4\" sheepsfoot and two 2-3/16\" secondary blades, 4\" closed, 420 stainless. The same CC32 frame was also catalogued with twin sheepsfoot and twin spear. SAG is the Smooth Autumn Gold bone code. SMKW listed this handle as Autumn Gold genuine smooth bone. This example is clearly orange in the photos.
The master carries the 1 of 200 etch and the standing raccoon with the cane. On these Queen / SMKW pieces the etch is often shallow. This one is the same — visible in the photos, not a deep acid bite.
This knife is a firsts example in the original box. We have listed other Colonel Coon pieces from the same period that were factory seconds and often had no box. This one is not stamped 2nds.
