“Cuba” Marked 6-ounce Coke Bottle
I found this coke bottle years agowhile SCUBA diving at the port of Wilmington, North Carolina.
It is a 6-ounce coke bottle,Marked CUBA on the bottom. Embossed bottled not painted.
Opposite the stamp CUBA on thebottom is what may be the number “3”. It may be a badly molded “B” but it isthere.
Below the Coca-Cola logo is thephrase “MARCA REGISTRADA”, and below that “CONT MIN 6 OZ FLUID” and on one sidebelow the logo are a series of imprints which looks to be number 15 then a blurredOwens-Illinois Glass Plant logo stamp ("I" inside an "O"superimposed over an elongated diamond) followed by a second number 52, which Isuspect is a date code.
(If it is an Owens-Illinois PlantCode, rather than a mold number, then I believe Plant #15 was their glass factory located in Streator,Illinois.)
CONDITION: This bottle is in neat, but used condition.There are wear marks on high surfaces, scratches, small impact dings (“Fisheyes) especiallyalong the base or heel and please remember it was lying underwater at a coastal port for some years. Ithas never been heavily cleaned I just rinsed it out and put it on the bottleshelf. The inside has some film or haze that a soft bottle brush and detergent mayremove.
Note: There is a stand alone 3.73mm (.147in) “fish eye”impact spot below the logo where the hobble skirt bottle narrows.
The production of Coca Cola in Cuba ended over 60 years agoin 1960. The iconic Coca-Cola logo in Spanish could make it a must-have for anycollector of soda-themed memorabilia.
This original bottle is a great addition to any collectionof vintage Coca-Cola advertising items. It is a pretty unique piece for CocaCola memorabilia and bottle collectors.
