The exposition was a world\'s fair held from February 20 to December 4, 1915, to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal.
It also served to showcase San Francisco\'s recovery from the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire.
The fair officially closed on Saturday, December 4, 1915, with a record-setting attendance of 450,000 visitors on its last day.
The event was a success, drawing over 18 million visitors and even turning a modest profit.
