This an unique Dietz Antique Bulls Eye Police Lantern with wood Handle, from the late 1800s, originating from the New York, US. This lantern, produced by the renowned brand Dietz, would have been used by police personnel for illumination. It is in original condition that features copper base( see pics), original black paint, glass bulls eye lens, carry Handle, belt hooks, kerosene/whale oil burner with long wick, adjustable interior shutter(for closing light from lantern or as signaling) adjustment at top of 2 tiered lantern top.
With its classic design and historical significance, this lantern would make a valuable addition to any collection of antique hardware or Police memorabilia.
Measures: 8in.Tall x 5in.Width (from lens to handle) Botom Width 3.25in round.
Condition: Excellent original condition.
Please note:
One of the Hand Grip is missing, other needs WD40.
When opening Lantern, small hinge slides out but all in tact. I did not want to try to fix to keep originality. Cemented or glued easily.
