Beautiful and exceptionally hard-to-find vintage Caswell’s Grand Opera Electric Roast Coffee tin from the Geo. W. Caswell Co. of San Francisco, California. This striking 1½-pound tin features gorgeous deep blue and metallic gold lithographed graphics, bold lettering, and its original embossed “STEEL CUT” removable lid.
Beautiful vintage condition with vibrant blue coloring, attractive metallic gold graphics, and excellent overall presentation. The original lithography exhibits fine age-related crazing, minor surface scratches, and scattered light wear. The removable lid shows surface wear and an old handwritten marking. The gold-colored bottom is particularly clean, and the interior is bright and well preserved. No major dents are apparent in the photographs.
An exceptionally elusive variety that has proven difficult to locate among other surviving Caswell’s coffee tins. Its distinctive blue-and-gold design, original lid, and San Francisco advertising make it a wonderful piece of early California coffee history.
