Up for sale is a nice vintage Henry Cheney patented nail holding carpenter\'s claw hammer. Patented by H. Cheney July 4, 1871, the rear portion of the hammer has a T-shaped channel with spring-loaded ball bearings on either side. Will hold a standard nail head in place to strike the first setting blow. Weighs about 1lb, 6oz including the handle.
Great condition. 5\" length head is free of chips, cracks, or other damage. Nail holder works as intended. The trademark stamp is a bit faded but mostly legible. The 13 1/2\" handle is in great condition. Head & handle are solidly attached with no wobble. Probably a replacement, but I\'m not sure. Made in USA and ready to work!
