This is a big hand-carved wooden biplane in the primitive folk art style. It has a carved pilot sitting in the open cockpit, two carved wings joined by metal struts, a propeller, and spoked wheels with black tires. The wingspan is about 28 inches (there\'s a yardstick across it in the photos).
I checked it over by hand. The red and tan paint is worn, with light chipping and weathering from age, which you can see in the photos.
A couple of things I want you to know about:
- There is a thin crack in the wood running along the side of the body.
- There is a little splintering in the wood where one of the metal struts goes in.
This is local pickup only, so the struts and propeller don\'t get damaged in shipping. I\'m in Tarzana, California (San Fernando Valley). The plane is fully put together and fits across the back seat or in the trunk of a regular car or SUV.
If you\'re out of state and want it shipped, please message me before you buy or send an offer. I\'m happy to drop it off at a local packing place, like the UPS Store near 91356. You would set it up and pay the packing place directly for the crating, insurance and shipping.
