Natural Whetstone: Aiiwatani—Hard—UnusedAiiwatani is a mine located in Shiga Prefecture, near Kyoto.There are records dating back to the Edo period,and it is a diverse mountain that has yielded whetstones very similar to Nakayama.The sides and bottom have been protected.Hard—Easy to use.
Pure Mikawa pairs exceptionally well with Japanese razors.This is Pure Mikawa Shiro-Nakura, from a mine that is no longer in operation.It is now a rare natural whetstone.Using this as a base stone, along with the grinding slurry from Nakura, makes it easier to achieve a sharp edge quickly.Please rub it while dripping a few drops of water onto it.The quartz and other minerals inside will break down into fine particles and dissolve.It’s convenient for removing nicks from the cutting edge and improves the sharpening feel.Effective for everything from nick removal to finishing.Can also be used with synthetic whetstones.When using the button-shaped stone, it’s best to align the grain parallel to the sharpening surface.If you sharpen down to the grain, grit will be released, so remove a thin layer before use.Also recommended for kitchen knives
