Abingdon Pottery was founded in 1908 as a high quality plumbing fixture manufacturer. Located in Abingdon, IL they quit making plumbing fixtures in 1934 due to low demand, due to the Depression and WWII.
From 1934 they made Art Pottery. These art pottery pieces are many and usually high gloss and unique. They made vases, candlesticks, console bowls, platters, wall pockets and numerous other pieces. This pottery was sold at high-end stores such as Marshall Fields, Gimbals, and Wanamakers. In 1950 they quit making art pottery, and returned to plumbing fixtures. The company closed in 2000.
This platter shallow bowl is in excellent condition, a lovely cream with floral designs .It measures 12 wide x 2.5 inches deep.
