Large Vintage Carlton Ware Rouge Royale Bird of Paradise Gondola Bowl 13\" Wide For Sale

Large Carlton Ware earthenware gondola bowl finished similar to Rouge Royale in deep red luster ground with gilt handles and accents. This is one of the large examples at 13\" with handles, and about 6.5\" to 7\" both in height and width. The boat-shaped body stands on a footed pedestal base with large softly finished 3-way supported/curled handles at either end. There\'s a faint expression of claw-feet on both the handles and base feet. Both sides and the interior are accented with expertly painted birds, flowering branches and butterflies throughout.

• Excellent overall condition, with no obvious scratches and only very faint wear inside. No cracks or repairs.
• One approximately 1 mm nick in the gilding on the upper rim, shown in the close-up photo.
• Extremely fine, faint crazing visible only under magnification and raking light, is not visible in conventional or bright lighting.
• The feet have small unglazed contact pads from manufacture.
