Large vintage Judaica Mizrach textile wall hanging from my late father’s personal collection.
My father was a serious art and Judaica collector, and this piece was part of the collection he assembled over many years. It has been kept as a decorative wall hanging and is now being offered as part of his estate.
The design is rich with traditional Jewish and Jerusalem imagery, including Moses holding the Ten Commandments, Aaron the High Priest, the Western Wall, two lions, Hebrew inscriptions, and symbols representing the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
The central Hebrew word “Mizrach” means “East” and traditionally marks the direction of prayer toward Jerusalem.
This is a substantial woven textile / carpet-style wall hanging with fringe. The wooden display rod shown in the photos is INCLUDED.
Approximate size: 39 x 49 inches, not including the wooden rod.
Condition:
Vintage pre-owned condition with some age-related wear, mainly around the upper hanging edge and several of the fabric loops used to suspend the piece from the rod. There is also light wear to the fringe. The main pictorial field remains attractive, colorful, and displays very well. Please review the photos carefully for the exact condition.
The exact age, maker, country of manufacture, fiber content, and construction method are unknown and have not been professionally authenticated. The design is consistent with traditional Judaica pictorial rugs and Mizrach wall hangings, but no claim is being made that the piece is Persian, antique, silk, wool, or hand-knotted unless independently verified.
