What You're Getting
Eleven vintage printed linen calendar towels in one lot, spanning 1960 to 1986. Photo 1 is a contact sheet of all eleven so you can see the whole lot at a glance; every towel then gets its own full-length photograph.
The calendar towels, by year:
- 1960 — Anno Domini, a girl watering pots beside a well, signed in the print.
- 1964 — Anno Domini folk-art farm with a rooster and a framed MARY-JIN cartouche.
- 1971 — songbirds, each named: red-headed woodpecker, blue jay, cardinal, rose-breasted grosbeak, scarlet tanager, Baltimore oriole.
- 1972 — a snowbound farm with a horse-drawn sleigh, in deep blues and browns.
- 1973 — Bless this house O Lord we pray, printed to look like counted cross stitch.
- 1976 — Kitchen Prayer with a pink Victorian house and two roosters.
- 1977 — Happiness is…, a boy handing a girl flowers, with a ginger cat.
- 1978 — birds, berries and a birdhouse on a soft teal ground.
- 1986 — An Apple A Day, bold graphic apples and grapes.
- Harper’s Weekly 1890 — an antique-look reprint, ladies on a boulevard.
- Harper’s Weekly 1883 — the Bicycling plate, two women with bicycles and a dog.
Two of the towels still carry their original Stevens labels — Stevens Linen Assoc. Inc., Webster, Mass. · Pure Linen Since 1846 and The Original Calendar Towel by Stevens. Both are photographed close up.
Condition & Details
Good honest condition across the lot, and sold exactly as photographed. Every towel is shown full length, hanging, so nothing is hidden by a folded stack.
Size: these are the standard calendar-towel format, roughly 16 x 27 in each. Most have a hanging tab or rod channel at the top and a finished hem all round.
Colours are bright — the reds, blues and greens have not gone flat, which is the usual failing on printed linen of this age. I found no holes, no tears and no burns.
Shipping & Returns
Free shipping, USPS with tracking, dispatched within one business day of cleared payment. The towels ship folded flat in a sealed poly bag inside a rigid box, so they arrive dry and no more creased than they left. Buying more than one item? Ask and I will combine.
30-day returns accepted. Buyer pays return postage and the item must come back as it was sent. Every flaw I could find is photographed and written up above — please read it, and ask me anything before you buy.
