Lot of 2 Vintage Wood Marking Gauges 1 Single Gauge 1 Double Mortis Gauge For Sale

Vintage wood marking gauges wrapped in a bit of primitive history.

The smaller marking gauge has a 6” marked ruler on one side and a brass thumbscrew for adjustment to the desired length. This gauge has a screw on the marking end of the tool to adjust and replace the scribing pin. The marking gauge is unbranded. It has the mustache shaped metal plate on the block like other Stanley gauges.

The larger double mortise marking gauge has two 6” sliding rulers. It has historical wood thumbscrews. The double scribe can be set to two different lengths. For mortise joints. This gauge is unmarked but is stamped with the letters HWL on the side of the block presumed to be previous owner’s initials.

The gauges are vintage and in good shape for their years of use. Lots of patina and a few paint marks. See photos for more condition details.
