This handcrafted versatile container as a fish or foul for table or wall with a mix of geometric angles, curves, holes and blended colors discovered in a local estate sale. Toyo design is evident by its minimalist shape, smooth blended colors and textured surfaces and traditional Japanese aesthetics merged with Western MCM trends of the 1960s. It is easily adapted to most ikebana schools that call for a subtle but intriguing container as well as any free-style, floral arrangement or any other use for any occasion, season or reason. We have found and enjoyed many ikebana containers while in Japan, travels on the mainland and visit back to the islands. They are displayed at home, used for demonstrations and presented at exhibitions. The first eight and last picture were taken with a black felt background which shows a true picture of the blended colors of the container with workroom lighting and the pictures in between were taken in camera tent except for the old label on the bottom computer scan at 350 dpi; the empty Asahi bottle is not for sale, but to illustrate the relative size of the container.
