This piece represents the best of Fantoni\'s mid-centuryefforts featuring a still life figure with vases of flowers. Born in Florence Italy in 1915, Marcello Fantoni was a sculptor,ceramicist, designer and metalworker. He studied at the Art Institute inFlorence, where Libero Andreotti and Bruno Innocenti were his sculptingprofessors and Gianni Vagnetti was his figurative art professor. He opened theFantoni Ceramic Studio in 1936, and his work is known for combining the ancientItalian pottery techniques with Modernist elements.
