I\'m selling a Japanese Kutani Serving Plate. It\'s 9-3/8\" in diameter and 1-1/2\" tall. The plate\'s art depicts an early Meiji Japanese wedding. The bride and groom are dressed in ceremonial attire. The plate is hand-painted by a master artist circa 1880-90. It was a gift from my mother in-law who lived in Japan for my wedding in 1976.The artwork is symbolic of various desires of the happy couple. The broom is used to sweep away negativity and bad luck. The mythological giant turtle known as a Minogame is a sign of longevity, wisdom, and good fortune. The cranes in the background are a symbol of peace, freedom, and elegance. Finally, the butterflies surrounding the border are for marital bliss, grace, and refinement. The colors are classical Kutani reds. The plate is signed on the back \"Kutani Tsukuru\" - Kutani Made. I\'m selling a Japanese Kutani Serving Plate. It\'s 9-3/8\" in diameter and 1-1/2\" tall. The plate\'s art depicts an early Meiji Japanese wedding. The bride and groom are dressed in ceremonial attire. The plate is hand-painted by a master artist circa 1880-90. It was a gift from my mother in-law who lived in Japan for my wedding in 1976.

I try to ship as cheaply as possible but it is more important that your purchase arrive safely. If you think the shipping is too high let me know. We DO refund overpayments. These vintage items have been cleaned if possible but they may have been exposed to a smoking environment and pets at one time or another.
