My Grandmother Lived Most of Her Life in Deming New Mexico. Throughout The 1950's She Wandered All Around The Membres Valley Looking For Arrowheads. Along The Way She Gathered Lots Of Other Artifacts, Including Many Metates. She Had Them Displayed All Around Her Yard And Sometime In The Early 1980's, She Came Home From A Cruise, And They Were All Gone, Stolen. I Asked Her How Many She Had, And She Counted From Memory 21 Unbroken Metates, All Stolen. In Her Back Yard She Had A Pile Of Broken Pieces About 4 Feet Tall, This Is 1 Of Those.
The Metate Piece Is Approx 4" x 9" x 11" Weighs A Bit Over 11 Pounds.
The Mano Is Approx 2" x 5".
