Mexican Talavera Style Lemon Vase 7.25\" Hand Painted Majolica Folk Art For Sale

Beautiful hand-painted Mexican pottery vase featuring a colorful lemon and foliage design in cobalt blue, yellow, turquoise-green and white.

This piece is made in the Mexican majolica / Talavera-style tradition, with hand-painted decoration over glazed earthenware and an exposed reddish clay base. The design features repeated yellow lemons surrounded by green and turquoise leaves, dark cobalt outlining, decorative floral details and scalloped blue borders.

The unusual double-gourd form gives the vase two rounded decorated sections separated by a narrower center, with a pedestal-style foot and blue-painted rim.

Measures approximately 7.24 inches tall and approximately 3 7/8 inches across at the widest point. Please see measurement photographs.

The underside is unglazed reddish earthenware and is unmarked, so a specific pottery workshop or individual artist cannot be confirmed. Four clear protective bumper pads are attached to the underside.

Because no certified Talavera maker\'s mark is visible, this piece is described as Mexican Talavera-style / majolica pottery rather than attributed to a specific certified Talavera workshop.

CONDITION:

Very nice pre-owned condition overall. I do not see any obvious chips or cracks in the photographs. There are natural variations in the hand painting and glaze consistent with handmade pottery, along with normal wear to the unglazed underside. Please examine all photographs closely for exact condition.
