Very cool vintage promotional coin bank for the New Bedford Institution for Savings made in the 1950\'s-60\'s by the Standard Thrift Company of NY.
This book shaped bank is made of metal with a chrome finish and a black spine reading \"SAVE FOR A PURPOSE - NEW BEDFORD INSTITUTION FOR SAVINGS - FOUR CONVENIENT BRANCHES - DEPOSITS INSURED IN FULL\". One side has a dollar bill slot and the other side has four slots marked \"HALVES - DIMES - NICKES - QUARTERS\" with gradations showing how much money is collected. The small slots makes is easy to view the amount of coins in the individual stacks. The side opposite the spine with the keyhole is marked \"PLACE OVER HALF\" and \"STANDARD THRIFT CO. NEW YORK\".
It measures 4.5\" tall by 2.75\" wide by 1.5\" deep, and weighs 3/4 lb.
