Notes:Cockloft Hall was a historic, pre-Revolutionary War mansion located in Newark, New Jersey, famously immortalized by author Washington Irving.
Built shortly before the Revolutionary War, the estate was originally owned by Isaac Gouverneur and named the Mount Pleasant Estate. It sat on the northeast corner of Gouverneur Street and Mount Pleasant Avenue, featuring scenic rear views of the Passaic River. Local tradition states that George Washington was entertained at the mansion in 1776.
