NOS! Vintage7-1/2” Dia. Art Deco Sheffield Style Clambroth Glass Light Shade
This listing is for one (1) Vintage ArtDeco Sheffield style clambroth glass light shade. The new old stock glass shade is in very goodcondition with light wear from storage as well as some production issues. The thick-walled molded glass shade has a 7-1/2”diameter (7.4” OD, 6.85” ID) and stands about 4” tall with a 2-1/4” fitter (2.24”OD, 1.63” ID). The vintage white clambrothcolored bowl-shaped glass shade weighs about 1-1/2 lbs. There are nine (9) matching shades availableat the time of listing, each a slightly different hue as shown in the image ofthe 9 shades. Several of the shades havesmall nicks and/or chips on the fitters and rims, none of which detract fromthe display or use. A production issue fromnearly 100 years ago is that many of the shades have spotting and imperfectionsin the glass. The images of theilluminated shades best highlight this issue and included are 2 images of thesame area on the same shade, one in daylight and one illuminated Small ruststains as shown are present on the rims of several shades. Overall, these near antique glass shadesdisplay well and are wonderful examples of the early electric glass light shadesmade in the USA during the 1920’s and 1930’s!
This shadecomes from a Brandywine River Valley antique shop where the new owner is notinterested in cleaning and selling the hundreds of glass shades stored in ashed. Many of the light shades have beenin storage since they were new in the 1930’s while others have been added inthe decades since. These are truly freshto the market finds! How are glass shades measured?
Glass shades are usually measured by three simpledimensions: fitter size, height, and width. The fitter size is the part thatmatters most when matching a shade to your fixture. It refers to the outsidediameter of the small lip at the top of the shade that fits into the shadeholder.
To measure height, start at the base of the fitter lip andmeasure down to the bottom of the shade. For width, measure across the widest partof the shade. Depending on the style, this may be at the top, center, orbottom.
How do I determine the correct size glass shade for mylight fixture?
The easiest way to find the right replacement shade is tomeasure the inside diameter of the shade holder on your light fixture. Matchthat measurement to the fitter size of the glass shade. Common shade holdersizes include 2¼", 3¼", 4", 6", 10", and 12".
