OBX Color Photo on a Grey Day! Vintage! 8x10 Photo: The 1872 Bodie Island Lighthouse, NC. 156' ft. high, 214 steps and has been remodeled so since 2013, visitors can climb to the top. This is the 3rd lighthouse here on this Roanoke Sound site. The first one was built in 1847 and abandoned because of a poor unsafe foundation. The 2nd one was rebuilt in 1859 and destroyed by retreating Confederates in 1861. Maybe the third time is the charm, this one built in 1872 is still standing! A lot of left over material from the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (completed in 1871) went into this one. ..The winning buyer/buyer will receive this 8x10 photo (of course without the watermarks) encased with acid free plastic (to protect) and foam backerboard surrounded by bubble wrap!
