OCCUPIED JAPAN VINTAGE BOY/MAN PLAYING CELLO STREET MUSICIAN BUSKER NO CHIPS OLD. 5-1/2 \" tall and about 3\" wide, this little cutie would be a great gift for anyone who collects Occupied Japan items, Cello players, street musicians, buskers.Occupied Japan products began in September 1945-April 1952. WWII devastated the Japanese economy. US aid from the United States helped Japanese ceramic manufactorers begin producing ceramic knickknacks for sale to the occupying American soldiers. Within a short time, an active export business expecially in the US was underway. Thousands of inexpensive figurines and knickknacks were exported to the USA and elsewhere in the late 40\'s and early 50\'s.This little man stood in our living room my entire life. I am 65 years old and I do not remember a time when it was not on the living room table or on the mahogany bookcase next to the living room in my parents\' house. It will seem odd to live anywhere where this little man is not standing there playing his cello, but it\'s time for him to have a new home, hopefully with a cello player. Or not. No judgements here!He has no chips, only some of the paint has worn off on this right arm (see photos) and his right shoe (see all photos) and on his left arm there are some little dots (see photo) that I never noticed until I went over him with a jeweler\'s loupe just now. I posted 12 photos so you can see him from every angle. The bottom has the \"Made In Occupied Japan\" stamp.I just read that today, December 29th, is International Cello Day!
