Up for sale is a 100% authentic, non-excavated American Civil War Union Officer's Model 1851 Federal Sword Belt Rig.
KEY DETAILS:- Hardware: Standard P1851 cast brass eagle plate featuring a crisp eagle shield, laurel wreath, and the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" ribbon. The reverse exhibits authentic sand-cast pitting, a narrow tongue characteristic of early/mid-war production, and a loose matching brass keeper loop bar.- Leather: Complete black leather waist belt body. The leather remains incredibly intact and pliable with beautiful natural "alligator skin" age crazing/patina and intact double-border stitching.- Markings: Clearly features a deeply struck, period sub-inspector or arsenal acceptance stamp number "34" pressed into the inner leather backing.- Condition Notes: Missing the secondary dangling sword hanger straps, which is typical for attic-found rigs. Beautiful uncleaned mustard patina and light verdigris near the contact hardware.
