These two are ridiculously charming—and definitely belong together. Between the sleepy eyelashes, little painted smiles, floppy ears, tiny piggy feet and hand-painted flowers, they have exactly the kind of personality that makes vintage figural pottery so much fun.Matched pair of vintage ceramic pig planters, finished in a creamy-white glossy glaze with hand-painted green, yellow, orange/brown and black details.Although they share the same wonderfully quirky pig form, the two have different hand-painted floral decorations. One features a bold radiating flower while the other has a looser floral-and-leaf design, making them a coordinating pair without being completely identical.Their faces may be my favorite part: closed eyes with exaggerated black eyelashes, tiny painted nostrils and smiling mouths, floppy dimensional ears and a little yellow/orange accent on each forehead.The glaze has developed extensive fine crazing throughout, giving them the unmistakable character of genuinely older pottery.Each measures approximately:5.75” long × 3.5” wide × 2.75” highOriginally made as small planters, they’re perfect for a succulent or little plant, but I think they’re just as fun displayed empty on a shelf, dresser or bookcase. They’d be especially cute in a vintage-inspired nursery, child’s room, kitchen or anywhere that could use a pair of slightly silly pigs.Condition: Vintage condition with extensive glaze crazing, interior staining/residue from previous use, scattered marks/discoloration and wear/variation to the hand-painted decoration. Small openings/holes are present in the pottery as shown in the photographs. No maker’s mark found.
