1785 U.S. Founding Father Patrick Henry Twice Autographed Land Grant Document. Beckett certified but certificate of authenticity is missing. Replacement will be ordered. This official, partially printed document bears the in-office signature of U.S. Founding Father Patrick Henry, who was then serving his second, non-consecutive term as post-colonial governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The document--dated Nov. 25, 1785, and formalizing the transfer of a Virginia property to a new citizen-owner--reveals detailed and lengthy, handwritten specifications with respect to the land parcel's boundaries and conditions of transfer. The piece has been properly endorsed--twice--by a pair of flowing "P. Henry" signatures at the bottom-right aspect. Patrick Henry (1736-1799) was an inspiring figure whose oratory skills and passion for his country were critical in the formation of a new, independent nation. Overall eye appeal of this captivating, centuries-old paper relic remains impressive: a compacting fold intersects the second, slightly fainter of the two Henry signatures without disrupting it, and the text retains its legibility.
