The IBM Wheelprinter Starter Pac, is a large box featuring packaging design by legendary American graphic designer Paul Rand. This vintage piece, a rare and highly collectible design object, printed on cardboard is an example of Rand’s distinctive modernist style — using playful color and shape arrangement for a container of printer supplies. The box size is 16” length, 11” height and 6 1/4” depth.

Designed in 1983 for IBM Corporation where I worked with Mr. Rand from the mid-70’s to mid-80’s. He gave me this box as an example of his current design work during the time period.

The object is in good condition considering its age and being printed on commercial (not archival) paper. It has the original plastic handle on top. The object was stored for decades and shows paper edge wear, discoloration, markings and other wear and tear mostly due from the ravages of time.
